Marin Farmers' Market Pavilion
March 17, 2008

MarinSpace has recently been contracted to provide consulting services for the development of an exciting new community landmark – the Marin Farmers’ Market Pavilion.  The Pavilion will be developed and operated by the Marin Agricultural Institute (MAI), a sister organization of the Marin Farmers’ Market.

The purpose of the project is to Establish a Community Landmark Dedicated to Growing a Healthy Local Food System.  The Pavilion is not just a building - it will be an enduring civic legacy dedicated to the county’s relationship with its agricultural land and its future as a model for sustainable living.  The facility will offer: a permanent home for the Marin Farmers’ Market, inspiring educational and demonstration programs, and a place for a vibrant network of farmers, ranchers, local food producers, artisans, agricultural organizations, and the public to come together.  It will make visible the region’s agriculture heritage and convey our community’s commitment to reducing our ecological footprint.  Ultimately, it will be a national model, both demonstrating and facilitating what it means to be a healthy, sustainable community.

While the MAI remains open to different locations for the facility, it is now focusing on an opportunity to locate the Pavilion on the historic Frank Lloyd Wright Marin Civic Center campus.

MarinSpace has been contracted by the MAI to provide a variety of pre-development planning services. To date these services include:

  • Facilitating the development and documentation of the Pavilion Concept
  • Conducting a preliminary programming study
  • Managing the architect selection process
Please contact us if you have any questions about these services.  Please contact the MAI at the Marin Farmers’ Market office if you have any questions about the Pavilion project.
